Sonoma County Sheriff Bill Cogbill


Sheriff-Coroner Bill Cogbill is a 33-year veteran of Law Enforcement.  Bill started his career in 1975 as a Police Officer with the Petaluma Police Department.  In 1978 he joined the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff.  He has since served as a Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant, in addition to, Police Chief for the contracted Town of Windsor, and Patrol Captain.  In 2003 Bill was elected to the position of Sheriff-Coroner for the County of Sonoma.  He was re-elected in June of 2006 and  started his second term in January 2007.
 

Bill earned an Associate Arts Degree from Santa Rosa Junior College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administration of Justice from Golden Gate University.  Bill is also a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy and the Law Enforcement Executive Development School.  He possesses Advanced, Supervisory, Management and Executive Certificates from the Peace Officers Standards and Training of California.
